Facebook has decided to dip its feet into the growing online food delivery industry which is estimated to be worth over $200 billion.
Partnering with Delivery.com and Slice, Facebook’s “Order Food” option allows users to place orders at local restaurants for pickup or delivery.
Users can select from a list of local restaurants, view menu items, place orders and leave reviews.
The announcement of the service brought down stocks for online food services like Grubhub and Yelp.
The move is yet another step in the merging of social media and e-commerce.
